Daily Prompt: Heroic

When you were five years old, who was your hero? What do you think of that person today?

I can barely remember who my hero was 5 years ago, let alone when I was 5 years old.

I don’t actually think I even had a hero back then… Let’s see… when I was 5, my life was all about Astroboy, Care Bears, Transformers, Barbie & The Rockers, Rainbow Brite, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles etc etc

I don’t really recall actually having any figure that I wanted to be like… I don’t even remember what I wanted to be when I grew up. I was too busy watching cartoons and riding my bike and playing with my toys. I do remember at one stage I wanted to be Astroboy… because he was cool, and he could fly, and he always helped people… and I wanted to be able to fly and have rocket boots…

I didn’t necessarily have a hero.

Does that make me a bad person? Who was your hero when you were 5?

    • I’ve never heard of the Backyardigans – pretty sure we didn’t have them here in Australia. Astroboy is awesome. But it’s much different watching shows like that as an adult. I had a read of your post – I like the way you’ve referred to your parents as superheroes – it’s a different viewpoint but quite cute.

    • And yes, it’s true, I haven’t posted anything for so long- I kind of feel guilty for saying I was going to commit to writing, and then completely letting it fall by the wayside…
