Our days our organized around numerous small actions we repeat over and over. What’s your favorite daily ritual?
One of my weird daily rituals is when I get home from my second job, and it’s late at night and after dinner I finally get to have a shower. It’s the one point in the day when I (usually) get to be alone, which means that I get to sit down and just be alone with my thoughts. I do a lot of my thinking, sitting on the floor of the shower.
This is also the time that I get to wash and scrub away all the sweat and dirt and grime from a long and exhausting day, and I step out feeling squeaky clean, relaxed and ready for bed. I also find that when I go through this ritual, by the time I hit the pillow, I’m out in a matter of minutes.
One of the other rituals that I’ve so very much settled into, is ‘cup of tea time’. Y’know, because instead of living life as a 31yr old, I live like I’m an 80yr old woman. All I want to do is stay home, not deal with people and drink cups of tea.
When Hulk and I have finished dinner… cup of tea. When we’ve been out on a man-date and we get home feeling full and tired… cup of tea. If we’ve been out all night partying with friends… cup of tea. Coming home from the movies… cup of tea. After the cup of tea I had with breakfast…. another cup of tea.
See where I’m going with this? There’s something quite comforting and relaxing about having a cuppa. It’s something that I quite enjoy, and something that I use to unwind.
