So, I’m not one for checking site stats or anything like that, and well, I completely ignore all the emails that I get from WordPress (they just go automatically into their own folder in my inbox), but I did notice something… a little notification that popped up on my screen congratulating me on getting 100 followers!! Naturally, I thought it was spam, and promptly ignored it.

Daily Prompt – Worldly Encounters

The friendly, English-speaking extraterrestrial you run into outside your house is asking you to recommend the one book, movie, or song that explains what humans are all about. What do you pick?

Hang on, are these those annoying extraterrestrials that are still on tv doing the Budget Direct commercials?

For those of you who aren’t from Australia, please don’t judge us for commercials like this. Somebody, somewhere was paid a fortune for coming up with this unbelievably ridiculous marketing campaign. Nobody really gets it, nor do people actually enjoy them.

So, I just imagine that I would be talking to these two fools… having to then explain humans to them. In saying that, you’d kind of think that being extraterrestrials who had already infiltrated the human race, one would assume that they would have already done their own research; their own study into the human race, their behaviours and interactions… maybe they would want an explanation as to why we behave they way we do… trying to explain why we instigate wars, why we preach hate, why we use God and religion as a excuse to justify it all, why we have so much corruption, and segregation between classes and societies.

However, I think that in order to get to all of that, you would need to go all the way back to where it all began. I’d recommend something like ‘On The Origin of Species’ which was written by Charles Darwin back in 1859 in which he famously published his theory of evolution and his theory of natural selection. Although in saying that, one would have to assume that these ‘beings’; these ‘advanced life forms’ should already know all of this, however, there would also be the possibility that although they may be a species hundred, thousands or even millions of years older than the human race, they may not actually know anything about us, who we are, how we came to be.

May 16 – Favourite Restaurant

Tell us about your favourite restaurant.

Oh easy, it’s a sushi train place in the city.

Most of the time whenever Hulk and I want to go on a man date, we’ll always try and get a  booking there first, before we try anything else. It’s our favourite place, and we’ve been going there for a number of years.

It’s a tiny little place, that can only hold maybe thirty people. It’s quite narrow and quite cramped, and every time we’ve been there, it’s always been packed, sometimes to the point where you simply can’t book a table, or have to wait anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour or sometimes longer.

The best seats in the house are all situated around the actual sushi train, because it makes it so much easier to access the food as it goes around, meaning that you always get the first / best opportunity to get the food as soon as it’s plated, so it’s fresh and if it’s cooked, it’s still quite hot.

I think our favourite seats are right across from the kitchen / preparation area – we both love watching them work in the kitchen, preparing the dishes with such precision and finesse. As we’re both big ‘foodies’, we love to see all the work that goes in behind the scenes to preparing dishes. Most people wouldn’t like to have those kind of seats, perhaps because they don’t necessarily think about (or care about) the work that goes into the dish, they just want it to look good and taste incredible.

Daily Prompt – Modern Families

If one of your late ancestors were to come back from the dead and join you for dinner, what things about your family would this person find the most shocking?

Well, depends on which century this ancestor is from?

Where do I start… the fact that I’m gay, would be a pretty big one.

Considering that homosexuality was pretty much taboo across most centuries, well, unless you lived around the era of Game of Thrones, then it was perfectly fine – people just turned a blind eye to those kind of… indiscretions. Which is quite interesting that even back then, it was still more accepted than it is today.

Society could probably learn a little something from that.

Then, of course, there’s the fact that my parent’s are divorced, again, something that was so heavily frowned upon. Moreso for the woman. Being a divorced woman carried a stigma with it – almost like a sense of tarnishing a woman’s reputation. Divorcee’s were frowned upon; pitied.

Then add onto that that none of us are religious… and I think that would probably make my ancestors head begin to explode. Being a person of no faith was also unheard of. If you didn’t believe in God, then you were seen as not having a soul, and condemned to burn in hell for eternity. Well, providing people didn’t automatically assume that you were associating with the Devil, or you were a witch.

Daily Prompt – The Kindness Of Strangers

When was the last time a stranger did something particularly kind, generous, or selfless for you? Tell us what happened!

Usually it’s the other way around – what did I do to a complete stranger that was completely selfless… but to have it this way, hmmm, that’s actually quite tough.

I’ve been trying to think about this for a while and one that springs to mind was a few years ago. I was interstate and went to one of those small Chinese massage places. The one’s that look kinda dodgy. The ones where they don’t actually speak any English, and generally don’t actually understand what you’re saying.

This one day I went in to have my calves and feet massaged after a few hard days of dancing and bouncing around, and I pointed them out to this lady, who smiled and nodded and took me into a room and got me to strip down to my jocks and cover myself with a towel. After trying to explain over and over again that I wanted my feet done, she still didn’t get it. SO I just went with it. Granted I only asked for a 30min massage, but it turned into 45 mins as she massaged my neck, shoulders, back, glutes, and in the last 5 minutes, quickly got to my calves and feet.

I was kind of annoyed, but I also felt a bit guilty about being annoyed. Yes, she didn’t give me what I wanted, and by the time she had finished, somebody who spoke english had returned to the store. I explained to them the situation, and said although the massage was really quite good, it wasn’t what I asked for, despite trying to tell her several times.

The guy apologised profusely, and explained everything to the lady in Chinese. She felt so sorry, and started talking to me in Chinese, I kept telling her that I didn’t understand, and had to use the guy to translate for me. I said that it was okay, and next time I come back, I’ll have a proper foot / calf massage instead. She kept talking to me, and grabbed my hand, motioning me towards a chair. I tried refusing, but she wasn’t having it. She literally dragged me across the room and forced me into the chair. The guy came with us and translated what she was saying, explaining that she felt so bad for not providing the service that I asked for, and instead, would do so now, for free. I kept saying that wasn’t necessary, and that I would come back another time to pay for it myself. She still refused.

As I sat in the chair, she grabbed my foot, and pulled off my shoe and sock, and then the other, and pushed me backwards to recline. Somebody brought her a small bucket of warm water, and she put my feet in there to soak.

Meanwhile, the guy who was translating, began to give me a head massage, whilst she gave me a hand massage. After about ten minutes, the water had gone dark and had cooled considerably. She removed my feet, dried them, and gave me another 30min foot / calf massage. It was absolute heaven!!

By the time she finished, I was on cloud nine and felt incredible. At the same time, I also felt so guilty for even mentioning my frustration earlier – I didn’t want her to do anything out of anger or obligation, but at the same time, I was kind of glad that I did. For the following three days, every evening on the way back to my hotel, I called in there and had a 30min foot / calf massage, and always gave them a big tip. I believe in paying for quality, and this woman was fantastic.

She never needed to do what she did, but I had an instant respect for her for her decision to make me sit down again. It worked out in her favour, as it brought me back another three consecutive days.

May 15 – Dining In or Out?

How often do you eat a meal from a restaurant? How do you decide when to cook or when to eat out?

We don’t usually eat out that often – instead we prefer to cook at home… well, Hulk prefers to cook at home. *lol* Most of the time when we do eat out, it’s usually take-away – something like mexican or burgers or sushi. Every now and then we’ll have McDonalds, and when we go out on a ‘man date’ we’ll go to a proper restaurant.

Ideally we like to have a man date once or twice a month, although that hasn’t even been happening because we’ve been so busy with other plans. When we do go out, we almost always go to our favourite place in the city which is a sushi-train. It’s always hard to try and get a table there, but it’s always worth it, and if we go there when we’re hungry, we do a lot of damage in terms of how much food we eat!!

The last time we went out on a  man-date, we couldn’t get into our sushi train place, so we tried another place that we’d always wanted to go to… a chinese buffet place. I think that it’s now our new favourite place, simply for the seafood and dessert buffets. Simply amazing. It’s bait more expensive, but completely worth every penny!

Daily Prompt – No Apologies

What’s the one guilty pleasure you have that’s so good, you no longer feel guilty about it?

Hmmm… this really does cover quite a few indulgences of mine…

Perhaps the number one guilty pleasure, is to spend ridiculous amounts of time in bed sleeping, only to then get up, and move from the bed to the couch and spend an entire day either watching catch-up television, and / or playing video games, but doing so until about 3 or 4 am then repeating the process again and again. Suddenly, before you realise, three days have passed and you haven’t left the confines of the apartment, nor had a shower.

I know, I know, that part sounds a bit gross, but I think’s that is part of what makes it such a guilty pleasure. Getting to a point where you just don’t give a fuck about the outside world for a couple of days – almost as though it doesn’t even exist. What’s wrong with a bit of a disconnect from society for a couple of days…?

Daily Prompt – Powerful Suggestion

What’s the one piece of advice you wish someone had given you a year (or five, or ten…) ago?

I think that generally speaking, I would have preferred if all my advice, was from my future self advising me on specific life choices I should and shouldn’t make. I think primarily it would have been related to my dancing ambitions, specifically, prompting me to move to Melbourne at a much younger age, to further develop my dancing abilities and talent, to make me a much stronger and athletic dancer.

Other than that, I would want my future self to give me advise (or better, a slap in the face) telling me not to get involved with specific people. Ie guyslike this… It would just save myself so much drama and heartache and bullshit!!
