You have to choose one flavor that your sense of taste will no longer be able to distinguish. Sweet, sour, bitter, salty, umami, spicy (not a taste per se, but we’re generous): which one do you choose to lose?
I would probably opt for spicy, because you’re being so generous. And also because next time I get takeaway and they say ‘Mild’, I don’t have to deal with the severe sweating, burning sensation in my mouth and the fucking traumatic bowel movements the next day.
Okay, so maybe that last one I would still have to deal with, which I guess is still kinda hazardous… But if we take away the taste sensation of hot molten fire of death, then surely that also extends to the… Um… aftermath… Right?? If not, let’s just assume that it does!!
The others.. Well I just love them far too much to sacrifice one of them. I have an unhealthy love addiction to sugary foods (read: CAKE!!) and I’m really enjoying my salty foods at the moment as well… I’ve only just recently discovered dark chocolate and sea salt… But it just doesn’t seem to have quite enough salt for my liking. I almost want to melt it down and add just a pinch more salt, to really give it a little bit more of a kick. Although isn’t it some kind of indicator that some mineral in the body has been depleted if you’re craving salty foods?! I’m sure I read it somewhere… Probably on the Internet, so it must be true.
