If you could create a sequel to one favorite (standalone) movie, which would it be? How would it build on the original?
I thought about this for a while, and there’s a couple of terrible iconic movies that are waiting for sequels, but one that stands out moreso…
MEAN GIRLS 2: Seniors Are So Fetch
After the shenanigans of the original classic, we rejoin Cady, Regina, Gretchen, Karen, Janis, Damian and all our other favourites for another hilarious adventure (well, except Trang Pak because she’s a grotsky biatch and got deported for her underage indiscretions with Coach Carr who also got fired and is now a registered child sex offender).
We find ourselves in the awkward arena of Ms Norbury and Mr Duvall now heavily flirting which eventually leads to them dating – I guess he got over his carpel-tunnel, and Ms Norbury is still guiding the Mathletes, although whilst Kevin Gnapoor is still a badass M.C. And Mathlete, he’s still ditching his Chess Club meetings to spend time with Janis… Y’know, because she’s Lebanese.
Gretchen Weiners finds herself having a crisis because her father, the inventor of Toaster Strudel, is dealing with rapidly declining sales, putting their family into a financial crisis which may leave them with no choice but to *gasp* downsize. Sell one of the Bentley’s, move to a smaller house with only 6 bedrooms instead of nine. Don’t you hate when that happens!
Regina George, whilst still looking flawless, is still channelling her rage into her Lacrosse, and has discovered something about herself that she is too scared to tell her girlfriends.
Karen is also having her own personal struggles. Whilst she may be gifted enough to have a fifth sense and tell when it’s raining, unfortunately that hasn’t helped her grades, and she is now in jeopardy of not graduating from high school with the rest of the gang. Even using her ‘assets’ to try and get out of trouble doesn’t seem to be helping much either, although she should probably stop trying to flirt with all the fabulously bitchy gay teachers… Because Damian has his eye on one of them in particular and he’ll cut any bitch that gets in the way.
But Damian is also holding a rather big secret as well, except his secret just happens to be 6’3″ and captain of the basketball team. If only his girlfriend knew…!
And of course we can’t forget Cady… our sweet little ‘Africa’ who tried to be a bad girl, only to have it blow up in her face. After the incident with Regina and the bus, her parents were ready to pull her out of school and home-school her but she managed to convince them to let her stay with her friends, but unfortunately, that has come at a cost – NO DATING!! Now that Aaron is out of the picture and gone off to College, she’s got her eyes on a couple of boys, but she can only look, and no touching of any kind… but then a wild night at a house party turns sour and Cady wakes up finding herself in jail. Handcuffed to a complete stranger. In a different city. What happened? Who does she call?
It’s a trip back to high-school with all your favourites, for another adventure about teenagers growing up. Friendships will be made, and some will crumble. Revelations will be made, and secrets will be revealed. And it’s going to be soooo fetch!
