When was the last time you experienced writer’s block? What do you think brought it about — and how did you dig your way out of it?
I often experience writer’s block, even with simple tasks such as writing daily blog posts and it frustrates me and I’m like ‘Brain, what the fuck is going on… make the words happen!’.
And I then find myself really struggling to think of anything to write, other than incredibly basic sentences, and I find myself totally unable to expand on them. I’m not entirely sure why this is, but it’s usually because it’s so early in the morning, or I’m just really manic or anxious or because I’m hungry – regardless, I simply cannot focus or think enough to write anything more than a few paragraphs.
That in itself frustrates me even more because all I want to do is just finish my post and move on to the next one because I’ve been so far behind and I really need to dedicate a good chunk of time to really smashing out some posts to give myself some minor chance of getting up to date… but it doesn’t seem to be happening.
I’ve had some posts that have taken me a couple of days to write, simply due to writer’s block because I haven’t had the mental capability to actually write anything more than two or three sentences, and seeing as how the whole purpose of this blogging venture is to force myself into writing, a couple of sentences simply is unacceptable. However, there are also some posts that have taken me a couple of days to write, because they’re creative pieces and for some reason creative pieces, whilst I struggle to start them, once I know roughly what the scenario is and the characters, the words just flow for me… and whilst I can quite easily get so caught up in what I’m working on, if it takes me three or four days to finish, then it also means that I have another 6-8 blog posts to add to the ever-increasing back log.
I currently have a post from 2 or 3 weeks ago that I still haven’t completed yet because it requires my day to be documented in photographs, and I haven’t been able to totally document an entire day from beginning to end… so I might just post ten random pics I’ve taken over the past couple of weeks and call it a day – literally. I just want to get it out of the way!
