Congrats — you’ve been handed a robot whose sole job is to relieve you of one chore, job, or responsibility you particularly hate. What is it?
Let’s be honest, if I had a robot, it’d most certainly be doing more than one task. Actually, it’d basically just be doing all the things I do during the day, which would free me up to spend my days on the couch watching catch-up tv shows and movies, playing video games and writing.
If I had to only pick one… then I think it would be a choice between doing all the cleaning and tidying, or doing my shift on reception at work so I don’t have to put up with a) having my time wasted, b) being constantly interrupted and c) dealing with complete and utter fucktards.
Having a robot do all my reception work would be great. It would allow me to spend time at my own desk, focusing on the work that actually matters rather than sitting there twiddling my thumbs with boredom. I generally find it almost impossible to actually get any work done whilst on reception because the phone is constantly ringing and I’m constantly being interrupted. Something that might take me a half-hour or so, can (and has) taken an entire day to finish.
Or what would be really cool, is if I could plug my bran into the robot, and then I could just download all my thoughts directly to the robot and it could do all my writing for me. Or perhaps in reverse – I could get the robot to do all the reading I want to do, but then at the end of the day / week, plug myself in and download all the knowledge / vocabulary / emotion / thoughts etc that is generated whilst reading. So I still get the benefit of reading, just without the effort.
