What makes a good storyteller, in your opinion? Are your favorite storytellers people you know or writers you admire?
My favourite storytellers are comedians.
My life is about comedy and laughter and putting a smile on somebody’s face, and for me, comedians do that, because comedy has evolved somewhat from simple knock-knock jokes and one-liners.
The last few comedians that I’ve seen all tell stories: stories from their work, or their personal life. Stories about their family. Christmas. Holidays. Traffic. Buying groceries. Shopping etc. It’s about the life that they live, and simply re-telling all the hilarious and often random moments that they experience.
Some of them have also shared their experiences in writing books, but I still find myself reading the books with their voice, and it just doesn’t have the same impact as hearing and seeing them re-tell the story themselves.
