Daily Prompt – Secret Santa

You get to choose one gift — no price restrictions — for any person you want. The caveat? You have to give it anonymously. What gift would you give, and to whom?

This is quite a hard decision to make – every person knows a lot of people, and there are a lot of people whom are genuinely in need, not to mention the countless others who are living in poverty around the world.

So if that were the case, how do you determine which one singular person is more deserving than another? If you were to get one person off the streets and get their life on track by providing stability and regular income, how do you choose that person? What makes that person so special?

I couldn’t do that.

If I were forced to make a choice, I would probably do something humanitarian, and on a national scale, like build shelter for the homeless and develop an industry that they can go into with little to no skills and learn on the job, whilst generating income and providing them with some stability in their life.

I could have just as easily said I’d give my mother a house, but that would simply be materialistic and selfish, and why would you do that when you have a true opportunity to make a real difference to not just one persons life, but countless people.
