If you could quit one bad habit instantly without difficulty, which would it be?
Generally, it would be to stop biting my nails, but since having a septoplasty just on 2 months ago, I’ve fallen back into a secret shame that everybody does, it’s just nobody actually admits to:
I pick my nose.
There. I said it.
*exhales*
Now, this is something that I used to do as a kid. Come on, everybody does it when they’re a kid… it’s just that sometimes people don’t grow out of these kind of habits (like biting my nails!). But since having my surgery, I find my schnoz is more like some kind of snot-production factory, that also likes to dehydrate as well… and if you call within the next nine minutes, you’ll also receive a free pair of steak knives!! hehehe.
I’m not sure what has brought it on, but it’s got something to do with my surgery. Perhaps having all that cartilage cut out has opened my nasal passages that much, that all this extra mucous is now coming out of my sinuses, but it stays in the walls of my nostrils and goes all hard and crusty. Almost daily I need to grab a tissue and then go digging for gold in order to get it all out.
Gee, doesn’t that sound appealing?! Hulk must look at me and think, ‘WOW! I’m the luckiest guy in the world. He’s such a catch!!’ and really, who could blame him?? *lol*
It’s a lot of maintenance post-surgery, there was the twice-daily hell of having to rinse out all the gunk, then it’s the daily spray and now that I’m finally able to, I can actually blow my nose. It might not sound like anything interesting, but when you take something as basic as blowing your nose for granted, then you get a little bit excited (and relieved) when you can finally do it again.
…now I just have to deal with my newly broken toe!!
“SUCH a catch!!”
