What’s your learning style? Do you prefer learning in a group and in an interactive setting? Or one-on-one? Do you retain information best through lectures, or visuals, or simply by reading books?
I’m not sure what my actual learning style is. I’ve done a couple of personality tests before, but I never remember what the outcomes are.
I think generally speaking, I need to either be doing something physically or learning from something visual. But at the same time, I pretty much learn from all different facets – it just depends on what I’m learning.
I’ve always said that I have a very oddly-trained brain. My brain seems to have no problems remembering intricate choreography…

…but remembering people’s names?? Not. A. Chance.

And I also have this weird ability to just know stuff. Useless stuff. Stuff that has no real relevance whatsoever. Stuff about cars. Stuff about using power tools. Stuff about construction. The ONLY possibility is that this is all stuff that I was surrounded by when I was a child – and most of the time it was somewhat forced upon me. So as much as I wanted to be anywhere else than stuck in the shed with dad Him whilst he was building something, I guess some of that random knowledge rubbed off on my impressionable young mind.
Don’t believe me? Belt sander. Tek screw. Joists. Trusses. Bearers. Hammer Drill. Noggins. Biscuit Joiner. Planer.
It really became noticeable over the past 12 months with various building / renovating shows that have been on television. They will talk about something, and I’ll be like ‘Oh, that’s… <explanation>’ and Hulk will just look at me in horror – usually saying something like ‘who are you, and what have you done with my husband??’. I just giggle and laugh it off because it’s SO out of character for me. Just one of the many things that makes me different.
