The World Series starts tonight! In your own life, what would be the equivalent of a walk-off home run? (For the baseball-averse, that’s a last-minute, back-against-the-wall play that guarantees a dramatic victory.)
Why does The Daily Post insist on making me answer sports-related questions?
I’m actually not really sure what a home run life equivalent would look like. Perhaps it would be something like winning Lotto? Perhaps it could be even simpler and present itself as something as basic as just doing a really great job at something and then getting some well-deserved recognition for it?
It could even be witnessing the downfall of an enemy, or even a frenemy, but then it’s wrong to take pleasure in somebody else’s downfall… well, unless they’ve really fucked me off and they deserve to FINALLY get a bit of bad karma, or a few years of bad karma all at once. It would be bringing them down without actually being involved. But even still, it’s bad to revel in somebody else’s pain – that just makes me a bad person.
*sigh* oh revenge, why do you have to feel so good, but be so completely morally wrong. Grr.
A home run could even just be achieving a goal in life – whether it’s becoming debt free, or cancer free, or saving up and getting a mortgage, or starting a family – whilst those things seem quite simple to some, it could be these simple achievements that can create the most pleasure.
